on her because she was absent from work for two days. The following
day Janice Adams and Michael Gardner were on campus and asked a substitute
why the teacher was absent. There are planned visitations to see
what the teachers are doing. Star Testing was discussed at the faculty
meeting and teachers are upset about the presentation. The Star Testing
format will change in a few years. There are problems in the computer
classroom.
BHS—More teachers are being hired. Most
teachers are teaching at bounty. Teachers are being told to get paid
for the extra students and not talk about it. N-Wing was evacuated for
a week due to dead rats in the Heating and Air Conditioning System.
3) Negotiations/CLB Reports – Deborah Casey
Janice Adams is talking about raises for teachers. Elementary teachers
are having issues with stipends. Some people are getting a stipend and
others are not. The stipend positions are not being posted. The procedure
is inconsistent in the district. Another issue is a grade level facilitator
meeting at the elementary schools.
4) PAC - Suzanne James - Peters
- Endorsement for School Board: The two people endorsed are Gary Wing and Andre Stewart
- October 13th Meet and Greet (4-6 pm): volunteers are needed to help with this event. Suzanne has a list of ways to volunteer and encouraged people to help. The goal is to have a minimum of 100 people in attendance. Andre and Gary will be there. Studies show that word of mouth works. Most of the campaign will be done electronically. The CTA is helping. The internet and Facebook will be used for campaigning.

The motion was made by Deb Campbell and seconded by Lisa to give a stipend in the amount of $25 per month for 10 months for a total of no more than $250 per year. The motion was passed with one no vote, and one abstention.
12) Jerry Eaton - CTA State Council Representative
- There are fewer CTA representatives now because of shrinking enrollment.
- The next seat up is a Vacaville seat. The seat will come in for reelection in the spring.
- CTA has a new face with Dean Vogel as president.
- There is an issue involving student data used to evaluate teachers. This data is not to be used for evaluating teachers and should be condemned by CTA. This is being brought to the next CTA conference as a New Business Item.
- JJ Jones suggested that CTA have a health plan for teachers. Teachers are taking a pay cut every year because health care costs keep increasing and furlough days are mounting. This should be a New Business Item. We want to know why statewide health care issue can't be done for teachers. There was an active discussion regarding having a school pool for health care.
13) Adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted
Suzanne Huddleston,
BTA Recording Secretary
