Approval of December meeting notes will be held over until the February meeting.
Elections: An elections committee needs at least one member from each level. Nan Prolo has agreed to be the Elections Committee Chair. The Middle School representative is Susan McDonald. The Elementary representative is Teresa Badger. A motion was made by Kim Stiewig and seconded by Mary McVeigh to have a $200 stipend given to the chairperson of this committee. The motion was approved.
Grievance Report:
Sam DeHaven is here to help with the next steps regarding the issue of requiring teachers to stay 15 minutes after the duty day. Sam will schedule a 30 minute meeting with each elementary school and the middle school to discuss this issue. The meetings are:
- January 10 at 3:15 at Henderson
- January 11 at 3:35 at Semple
- January 12 at 3:25 at BMS
- January 18 at 3:20 at Farmar
- January 19 at 3:35 at Turner
Old Business:
1. Sick Leave has been changed from days to hours on our pay stubs. Our
contract states we have sick days and not hours. BTA will pursue this. Sam
recommended that we have a talk with the superintendent regarding this.
He recommends that we put in a demand to bargain because it is a change
in working conditions.
2. Technology Issues: this is being worked on
3. Enrollment fairs for CA Casualty and the Standard are coming up.
4. Region I Conference suggestion is: To honor teachers in some way. Someone is needed to take the lead.
Site Reports:
Elementary: Conference wording should be changed so teachers don’t need to meet with all the parents. Perhaps students who have concerns need to have parent meetings while students who are doing well do not need to meet with parents.
Secondary: There is a concern regarding unequal days in semesters. This is a challenge giving students the required content when the semester classes are a different length.
Calendar: Sam stated that the district can state when the school year begins. All other days are bargained.
Adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted
Suzanne Huddleston,
BTA Recording Secretary
