Meeting called to order at 3:30 pm on February 3, 2010 by Deborah Campbell

Attendance:  Lara Ruark, Kathy Maloney, Gayle Costanza, Teresa Badger, MaryLouise Green, Jeffrey M. Jones, Deborah Casey, Maya Nelson, Nan Prolo, Carleen Maselli,

The minutes for the BTA meeting held on January 6, 2010 were approved as corrected.

Site Reports:
BMS - The safety issues seem to be resolved.  A new barrier, a list of duties and a duty station are in place.  Kathleen Zeuli made reminder calls to people who are retiring to ensure that all the paper work is filed on time.  Several people did not get paid for their Friday session and were told to contact the personnel office.  Some teachers objected to the lunch because classified personnel were not included.  All departments have been pulled out of class to attend meetings regarding the PI status.  Fridays are needed to plan for math classes and the District wants other tasks done during this time.  PE has a Student-of-the-Month program honoring deserving students with T-shirts and a ceremony.
BHS - Keith is making his rounds with pink slips.  WASC gets turned in next week.  There are lots of fights.  Math teachers met with Janet Handley about benchmarks.  There are not enough administrators.  The principal has been undermined in discipline issues.  Saturday School is not working—students would rather miss Saturday School and get in-school suspension during the week.  There was an air gun on campus—the student was not suspended.  There have been instances of students selling prescription cookies on campus.  Several students have gotten sick after eating the cookies.  The SRO is not full time.  The teacher lunch was good.  BHS feels that they took most of the budget cuts last time and want a proactive movement when making budget cuts.  The biggest push is for cuts across the District.  Suggestions are to reduce the District office staff and have elementary principals work at two sites once two principals retire.
Farmar - There are concerns about Class Size Reduction and a principal for next year.
Henderson - Teachers loved the lunch and expressed concern about a new principal.
Turner - Many people attended Tuesday’s budget meeting.  The lunch was appreciated.
Semple - Teachers liked the lunch that was served on January 29.  Teachers had many questions regarding the budget.
Liberty -

Neg./CLB Report:  Deborah Casey

CLB - No requests at this time.

Negotiations - The District is asking us to come to the table.  The bargaining team has a planning session on February 17.  The bargaining date is set for February 25.  The District is going to recommend cuts.  The District wants control of the Common Planning Time.  The District wants to reduce the Delta Dental benefit from $2,000 to $1,500 per year.  The state budget will get worse from January to May.  The entire contract comes up at the end of June.  We will be happy to keep the status quo.
